Hair Loss (Alopecia)

Hair Loss Treatment at Dr. Haus Dermatology

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, affects millions of men and women worldwide. Whether due to genetics, medical conditions, or other causes, hair loss can significantly impact confidence and well-being.

Dermatologists are the medical professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat hair loss.

Dr Haus Dermatology was founded on Harley Street over 15 years ago and since then has developed an excellent reputation for providing quality dermatological care.

Our Dermatologists are routinely consulted for their expertise on female hair loss treatment and the best hair loss treatment for men.

Alopecia can affect both men and women and may begin as early as the late teenage years.

In men, hair loss typically occurs on the top and front of the scalp, while women generally experience overall hair thinning.

Best Hair Loss Treatment

At the initial consultation your Dermatologist will examine you and diagnose the type of alopecia or hair loss you have.

Depending on the exact diagnosis that you receive, options for treatment may include the following:

Topical or Oral Medications

Minoxidil for hair loss: A topical treatment that stimulates hair growth and slows hair loss.

JAK Inhibitors: A new class of medicine prescribed for patients with alopecia areata. JAK Inhibitors work by blocking enzymes that contribute to inflammation around hair follicles.  JAK inhibitors are a prescription only medicine.

Prescription only medicines can only be prescribed following a face to face consultation with a Dermatologist to determine suitability on a patient by patient basis.

Finasteride: A prescription only medication for male pattern baldness that blocks DHT, a hormone linked to hair loss.

Dutasteride:  Another prescription only medicine that works similarly to Finasteride but has different active ingredients.

Spironolactone: Also a prescription only hormonal treatment for female hair thinning.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy: PRP involves injecting your own platelet-rich plasma into the scalp to stimulate hair follicle growth and improve thickness.

Polynucleotide Treatment for Hair Loss: Polynucleotide injections are bio-stimulators and indicated for a number of conditions, including hair loss.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT): Laser therapy stimulates circulation and promotes hair regrowth using non-invasive light treatments.
