Dr Assim graduated from the University of Marburg, Germany and completed her dermatology specialist training at the Otto von Guericke University, Magdeburg and on passing the rigorous German specialisation exam was awarded the title of Specialist in Dermatology and Venereology (Sexual Health) by the Magdeburg Medical Council.
Dr Assim has a special interest in dermatosurgery and has carried out over 6,000 operations as the surgical lead.
Dr Assim also has extensive experience and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of common skin problems. She enjoys the unique opportunity her speciality provides to positively impact her patients’ quality of life, whether through early detection and treatment of skin cancer or managing functionally and cosmetically disfiguring skin conditions.
Over the last 12 years Dr Assim has been working in long term locum positions at a number of renowned NHS trusts including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Salford Royal Hospital Manchester, Salisbury District Hospital, St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals NHS Trust, Hammersmith Hospital, Southend and Basildon Hospitals, West Middlesex University Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. During this time Dr Assim has covered all types of dermatological clinics which has given her invaluable insight into the practice of dermatology in the U.K.
To keep up to date with the latest dermatology research and new treatments, Dr Assim regularly attends international and local conferences covering medical, surgical, laser, cosmetic and general dermatology.
