Female Dermatologist

Dr Gkini qualified from Aristotle University Medical School in Greece and completed her initial training in Dermatology at university hospitals in Athens. Her special interests include hair disorders, acne, psoriasis and eczema, skin cancer, dermatologic surgery and aesthetic dermatology. She strongly believes that dealing with the interaction between skin and mind is key to achieve healthy and beautiful skin.

Dr Maria-Angeliki Gkini

Dr. Maria-Angeliki Gkini qualified from the Medical School of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is an MSc holder in International Medicine-Health Crisis Management and completed her PhD, focusing on the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the management of non-scarring alopecias. She completed her dermatology training at Barts Health NHS Trust in London.

Dr Gkini further pursued her clinical and research interests in Athens, Greece and New York City, USA. She has been trained in Aesthetic and Anti-Ageing Medicine by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. She is an International Psoriasis Council Fellow 2023 and she was mentored by Prof Alice Gottlieb at Mount Sinai in New York City in the field of psoriatic disease. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

Currently, she is a Locum Consultant Dermatologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK, where she is running the specialist medical dermatology (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and hidradenitis suppurativa) and psychodermatology clinics as well as seeing private patients at Dr Haus Dermatology.

Apart from her clinical work, Dr Gkini has an interest in clinical research and she has been a principal and sub-investigator in more than 50 multicenter studies.  She has significant teaching experience, including teaching at the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology at Queen Mary University in London.

Dr Gkini is actively involved in several organisations, societies and their committees, such as the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry, the International Psoriasis Council and Alopecia UK.

She has participated in numerous national and international congresses as a speaker/invited speaker and she has published her research in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Gkini has also been awarded numerous prizes and grants by prestigious institutions and organisations, such as the EADV, the BAD and the Royal College of Physicians.

Her special interests include inflammatory skin diseases, such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, advanced therapies (biologics and small molecules), hair diseases, psychodermatology, dermoscopy and skin cancer, dermatologic surgery and aesthetic medicine.

Dr Gkini is passionate about the holistic management of her patients and understands the importance of treating them as a whole. She strongly believes that dealing with the interaction between skin and mind is key to achieve healthy and beautiful skin.

Her work includes treatment for psoriasis and eczema, skin cancer, hair disorders, acne dermatologic surgery and aesthetic dermatology.  Dr Gkini  speaks Greek and English.
