BTL Emtone is the latest FDA Approved treatment for improving the appearance of cellulite and it was launched in the UK just last month. Here at Dr Haus Dermatology we are excited to be the very first clinic on Harley Street to offer this innovative new treatment! BTL Emtone complements the existing non-invasive body treatments that we offer in our clinic, and the short treatment time makes it ideal for the busy person seeking an effective solution for their cellulite!

What Is It?
The Emtone Cellulite Treatment is a handheld device that works by simultaneously using monopolar radio frequency and shock waves, to increase blood supply to the treated area. In turn this results in improved lymphatic drainage, an increase in skin elasticity and the elimination of the dreaded dimpling effect known as cellulite. It delivers clinical grade results in a fraction of the time of existing treatments.
What Causes Cellulite?
The interesting point to note about cellulite, is that it is a very common condition, present in around 90% of women as well as 10% of men. Cellulite is the result of the swelling of fat storage cells called ‘adipocytes’. Adipocytes can swell up to 60 times’ their initial volume and causes may be hormonal, hereditary, diet or lifestyle related. As if this isn’t bad enough, when these fat storage cells become saturated, they can then trigger additional storage cells which also increase in size.
The Treatment Details
An Emtone Cellulite Treatment only takes around 20-30 minutes depending on how many areas are to be treated. (A buttock treatment would usually take 10 minutes on each side.)
An application cream is first applied to the area to be treated and then the handheld device is massaged over the treated area. Patients report feeling a tolerable heat and mini shock waves, that push against your skin at a rate of 10 times a second.
Four to six treatment sessions are required at weekly intervals. You may see an immediate improvement after the first treatment, but the full effect will be seen at around 12 weeks. It is important to note that no treatment yet exists to remove cellulite permanently, but this non-surgical treatment can deliver visible improvement.
This new treatment is not limited by BMI or skin type – everybody with visible cellulite is a candidate. The treatment requires no anaesthesia and has minimal downtime. Contact us by email on reception@drhausdermatology.com if you would like to receive more information about this new treatment.
